On March 21, 2026, the clergyman was unlawfully detained on his way to the village of Volytsia in Ternopil Oblast, where Father Ihor was to perform a memorial service.

After his detention, he was taken to the Ternopil Oblast TCC.

Current Status

According to available information, Father Ihor Kovaliuk was forcibly mobilized. He is currently serving in the military or being held.
