Archimandrite Herman (Kulakevych)

🔴 On February 3, 2026, in the city of Rivne, employees of the Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center (TCC) detained Archimandrite Herman (Kulakevych), a monastic of the Varvara Skete in the village of Staryy Korets of the Rivne Eparchy of the UOC. The clergyman was stopped upon returning from a medical facility where he had been undergoing examination in connection with an acute case of ARVI.

According to information from the eparchy and church sources, after his detention, Archimandrite Herman was taken to the TCC, where he underwent a military medical commission. Despite his state of health, the monk was deemed limitedly fit for military service and sent to one of the military units of Rivne Oblast.

According to published reports, the clergyman was assigned to serve in support and reserve units. The Rivne Eparchy stated that the detention took place without regard for Archimandrite Herman's health condition, and called on the faithful to pray for the monk and for the swiftest possible onset of a just peace in Ukraine.
