Oleksandr Onyshchenko is a Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman and nationalist activist.

With the active assistance of OCU clergy, Onyshchenko led the raider seizure of the UOC Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky in the city of Sloviansk.

Furthermore, using hate speech, the activist called for unlawful actions against UOC believers and clergy.

On April 10, 2026, on his YouTube channel (Sashko Dobryi | I Serve the Ukrainian Nation!), Onyshchenko published a video in which he described the details of the illegal re-registration of the cathedral.

The activist claimed that by carrying out the raider seizure of the church he is "dealing damage to the Russian Federation."

"If from the first day of the full-scale invasion I had been putting one Muscovite infantryman in the ground every day, I would not have inflicted as much damage on the Muscovites or brought as much benefit to Ukraine as by liberating even one church in Ukrainian Donetsk region from Muscovite occupation. The occupation of the Mospatriarchate, the occupation by this FSB gang."

Onyshchenko spoke about UOC clergy in an offensive manner inciting inter-religious hatred.

The activist stated that he is now the "head of the parish," thereby taking personal responsibility for the illegal re-registration of the cathedral.

"The Moscow rabble — they have been putting up and are in fact continuing to put up maximum resistance, maximum resistance to our actions. However, we have already passed the formal side of the matter, and soon, dear Ukrainians of Sloviansk, — I believe — we will enjoy services and liturgies in the Ukrainian language in this cathedral," Onyshchenko continued, fanning the flames of hatred.

In addition, Onyshchenko admitted that OCU Bishop of Donetsk and Sloviansk Savva Fryziuk participated in the falsification of documents related to the cathedral.
