Dmytro Kukharchuk

Date of birth: 04 June 1990

Deputy Commander of the 3rd Army Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Dmytro Kukharchuk was born in Vinnytsia. At the turn of the 2000s and 2010s, he was an active participant in the Cherkasy ultras movement.

He was a participant in the Euromaidan protests, during which he took part in the storming of the Cherkasy Regional State Administration and in the confrontations on Hrushevskoho Street in Kyiv.

In the spring of 2014, he joined the Azov Battalion, as part of which he took part in combat operations in eastern Ukraine.

Since 2016, he has been a member of the Higher Council of the political party National Corps and heads the Cherkasy regional branch of the party.

On August 14, 2021, he took part in a protest action of the National Corps on Bankova Street, during which clashes with the police occurred. As a result, criminal cases were initiated against the most active protesters, including Kukharchuk.

In the autumn of 2022, he assumed the position of commander of the 2nd Assault Battalion of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade.

On November 20, 2023, he directly participated in an attack on parishioners and clergy of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos Monastery of the UOC in Cherkasy.

He directed the actions of militants who invaded the monastery grounds. Together with accomplices, Kukharchuk climbed over the monastery fence and attacked parishioners.

His complicity in the raider seizure was recorded on video from the scene.

The militants inflicted severe injuries on members of the clergy. In particular, one cleric of the monastery had his jaw broken, and one parishioner suffered multiple fractures of the leg.

Kukharchuk’s raider group also carried out vandalism in the monastery cells and intimidated witnesses.

On December 19, 2023, in the criminal case opened following a complaint by one of the victims, civilian prosecutors were replaced with military prosecutors.

This indicates that the crime was committed by an active serviceman.

On October 17, 2024, Kukharchuk shared details of the raider seizure of the St. Michael’s Cathedral of the UOC in the city of Cherkasy.

He stated that former servicemen of the 3rd Assault Brigade took part in the storming of the cathedral.

This indirectly indicates complicity in the seizure of the church.

In addition, Kukharchuk reported that he had “officially registered” himself as a “parishioner” of the seized cathedral.
